Art Nouveau, which reached its peak around 1900, was the first truly Belgian style. It is associated with architecture and the decorative arts. Its main representatives include Victor Horta, Paul Hankar, Henry van de Velde and Philippe Wolfers. In over 20 years, the King Baudouin Foundation has built up an important collection of Belgian Art Nouveau masterpieces. Each artwork has a fascinating history that will be explained in the historical context.
