Why protecting heritage is a public/private story

Flanders possesses a movable cultural heritage of exceptional importance. With the Masterpiece Decree, the Flemish government is seeking to protect and conserve this heritage. Top items can be owned by both public institutions and private collectors. With a view to shedding light on the operation of the ‘Topstukkenraad’ and to eliminate potential misunderstandings surrounding the protection of our cultural heritage, the council responsible for the classification of exceptional heritage assets has decided to outline its functioning in a short presentation.
