Meessen welcomes back Rinko Kawauchi

Meessen is delighted to welcome Rinko Kawauchi for her third solo exhibition at the gallery. In M/E, Rinko Kawauchi explores the profound links between the individual, the Earth and the universe, weaving together themes around natural landscapes, family and existence. The title M/E, meaning both ‘Mother Earth’ and ‘me’, reflects this complex and intimate relationship. His serene photographs navigate between micro and macro perspectives, revealing the equality and interconnectedness of all things in the great cycle of life. For Kawauchi, photography is a profoundly physical act: moving away to better perceive, absorbing to better understand. This movement, between distance and proximity, is at the heart of his work. 
 

Meessen est ravi d'accueillir Rinko Kawauchi pour sa troisième exposition personnelle à la galerie. Dans M/E, Rinko Kawauchi explore les liens profonds entre l’individu, la Terre et l’univers, tissant ensemble des thèmes autour des paysages naturels, de la famille et de l’existence. Le titre M/E, signifiant à la fois “Mother Earth” (Terre Mère) et “me” (moi), reflète cette relation complexe et intime. Ses photographies, empreintes de sérénité, naviguent entre perspectives micro et macro, révélant l’égalité et l’interconnexion de toutes choses dans le grand cycle de la vie. Pour Kawauchi, photographier est un acte profondément physique : s’éloigner pour mieux percevoir, absorber pour mieux comprendre. Ce mouvement, entre distance et proximité, est au cœur de son travail.
