BRAFA proudly welcomes TEMPLON gallery to its 70th-anniversary edition!
Since its founding in 1966 by Daniel Templon, the gallery has been at the forefront of the art world, presenting iconic conceptual and minimal artists like Martin Barré, Christian Boltanski, Donald Judd, and Richard Serra. TEMPLON has also introduced the French public to major American figures like Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
Today, with spaces in Paris, Brussels, and New York, the gallery continues its mission of fostering dialogue between generations, blending established greats with mid-career innovators and emerging talents.
Tune in as Raphaël Sachsenberg, director TEMPLON Brussels, unveils their presentation for BRAFA 2025: a solo exhibition by François Rouan (*1943), a pivotal figure in French contemporary art. Rouan’s groundbreaking “braided” paintings, first developed in 1965, deconstruct traditional notions of composition, intertwining painting and collage in unprecedented ways. His later ventures into photography and film further expanded the language of contemporary art, making him a pioneer in redefining visual storytelling.
Rouan’s works, deeply rooted in the Supports/Surfaces movement yet independent of it, invite viewers to reconsider the fabric of painting itself, challenging conventions and embracing innovation.

Die Galerie wurde 1966 von dem damals 21-jährigen Daniel Templon gegründet. Templon machte sich zunächst einen Namen mit Ausstellungen von Protagonisten der Konzeptkunst und des Minimalismus wie Martin Barré, Christian Boltanski, Donald Judd, Joseph Kosuth oder Richard Serra. In den 1970er und 1980er Jahren gehörte Daniel Templon zu den Pionieren der zeitgenössischen Kunst und stellte dem französischen Publikum zahlreiche bedeutende amerikanische Künstler vor, darunter Dan Flavin, Ellsworth Kelly, Willem de Kooning, Frank Stella und Andy Warhol. Die Galerie wurde schnell zu einer Referenz für zeitgenössische Kunst in Frankreich. Heute vertritt TEMPLON eine Gruppe internationaler Kunstschaffender. Das Programm fördert den Dialog zwischen den Generationen: etablierte Künstler, internationale „Mid-Career“-Künstler und jüngere Positionen. TEMPLON beteiligt sich an der Produktion der Werke seiner Künstler und verfolgt eine starke publizistische Politik mit der Herausgabe von Ausstellungskatalogen. Die Galerie verfügt über vier Ausstellungsräume – zwei in Paris, einen in Brüssel und einen in New York – und nimmt weltweit an Kunstmessen teil, darunter seit 1974 an der FIAC und seit 1978 an der ART BASEL.
