Benjamin Gastaud has been passionate about René Lalique’s work for nearly 15 years. He lends a significant part of his personal collection to various institutions, such as the Lalique Museum in Wingen-sur-Moder or the International Perfume Museum in Grasse, be it for permanent collections or temporary exhibitions. He defines himself first and foremost as a collector, as it is his passion for Lalique and his work that informs his professional activity. When Benjamin Gastaud acquires an item for his gallery, his approach is always that of a collector: analysing the object, feeling it, assessing the qualities that will make it worthy of joining a collection. With his experience and knowledge of René Lalique's glasswork, he aims to provide collectors with the confidence to build their collections safely, without the risk of purchasing altered or lower-quality items. It is with this mindset that Benjamin Gastaud decided to take the CNES (National Chamber of Specialised Experts) exams to become an expert in René Lalique’s glasswork.
