BRAFA Art Fair's Chairman unveils an unmissable 2024 Highlight
Join Harold t' Kint de Roodenbeeke, BRAFA's Chairman and specialist in 20th-century modern art, as he unveils one of the unmissable pieces to be discovered at the upcoming BRAFA Art Fair from 28 January - 4 February.
The painting in question is a rare 1950s mass writing by Judit Reigl (1923 - 2020). The Hungarian artist escaped communism in the late 1940s and emigrated to France, where she developed in the spirit of abstract expressionism. An extraordinary woman with an extraordinarily powerful gestural language, whose work will be on display at Galerie Dina Vierny. With a heterogeneous collection of works from different eras and, thanks to the guest of honour the Paul Delvaux Foundation, a thematic and historical exhibition around this artist, the 2024 edition of BRAFA will be an absolute must-visit to open the artistic season with. Last but not least, the specific, surrealistic setting promises to surprise.
Featured artwork: Judit Reigl (Kapuvár 1923-2020 Marcoussis), Mass Writing, 1958. Oil on canvas, 80 x 114.5 cm. Signed: Reigl and dated lower right: 1958.
